Facts to be aware of before you race any triathlon whether it is an RMS (Richmond Multisports) race or any other:

  • Read the race pages, there is a vast amount knowledge already written for you to give you knowledge & prep.
  • Before you register and if you are a first timer, you must attend the briefings @ any RMS triathlons.
  • Triathlons are not like running events, there are multiple pieces and a huge checklist of equipment for you to be responsible for. This is why we organize race clinics that are mandatory for first timers and triathletes that have never raced this course before.  There are not many triathlons in this region that do these clinics, take advantage!
  • You will be asked to type in your best estimate for a pool swim triathlon.  If you don't know, you can still register; however, you will need to email the time to info@racesonline.com
  • USAT one day fee of $10 or an annual USATriathlon license is needed for insurance, you must have one or the other or type in pending if it is on order.
  • There is no bike & equipment removal from the transition area before the last biker is out on the run course!  This is not a USAT rule, but is upheld by many race directors in this region.  There will be a 2 minute penalty imposed by the head USAT official if this rule is broken.  Why?  It is rude and disrespectful for finished athletes to impair or obstruct a participant that is not finished with their race, all pay the same entry fee.  All are due the same fair course conditions.
  • There are no shirt, swim caps, or specialty items guaranteed to athletes that are not pre-registered 2 weeks prior to race day.  We pride ourselves in our race shirts, and they are not cheap. These items are expensive and with our go-green policy, it is not our intention to over order or waste time and money.
  • Get familiar with USATriathlon rules and membership ($39/year).  www.usatriathlon.org if you think you may like and continue the sport of triathlon!
  • Good luck, we are here to serve you!  Laurie@richmondmultisports.com Race Director and owner of RMS
