| OUR HISTORY |
|
In 2001 there were no triathlons or duathlons in Richmond. During 13 years of racing triathlons, Laurie Mehler was honored to be the President of the Richmond Tri Club from 2001-2003. Laurie had a vision to create a duathlon out in West Creek and a triathlon at the Shady Grove YMCA, and was the race director for the local tri club for those events for 3 years as a volunteer.
In 2002 and 2003 Mehler was contracted by Premier Events Management to be the local Race Director for the national AARP Triumph Classic Sprint Triathlon. In the wake of the disappearance of local mountain bike races and the AARP series in March of 2004, a timely opportunity presented itself. With the support of a higher power, friends, and family; Richmond Multisports was born! Laurie is passionate about bringing well organized, professional racing to Richmond and taking it to the next level. Richmond Multisports is a full time dedicated resource and endeavors to share its passion for multisports and producing fun, safe, inspiring races.
We pride ourselves in contracting the best quality timing company in the region for our events. We will always continue to educate the RMS race team to strive for excellence in all areas, with safety as a primary focus. We believe in honest relationships and hold our integrity at high levels. For us the races are one big outdoor sports party. It's all about fun and enjoying the ride and the journey, not just the destination! The sport of triathlon is one of the top growth individual sports in the country, come play! |
